Battle 3rd Weekend Results

It's time for the 9th Annual Battle.  Welcome to Hiner Transport and Zimmer Sunrooms (teaming up with 1st Federal) to the Battle.  Attached is the first weekend roster and tournament brackets.  A few notes for you:

For the Opening Ceremonies, we will meet in the YMCA Gym before the 2 mile walk.  The walk will again be on the Crestview Track.  I know many of you wanted a route, but anticipating over 150 walkers, we decided to use the track for safety purposes.

We have replaced the tricycle races with scooter races.  It should be just as fun.

Once the walk is over, we will have the basketball skills competition, sports wall competition and scooter races all take place in the gym.  After those events are complete, we will move to the pool for the belly flop contest.  Remember, the theme for the Belly Flop contest is Super Heros.

Sand Volleyball will take place at the YMCA this year.  We have 9 Women's teams and 14 Men's teams.  The tournament will be double elimination.  The winners bracket will play the best 2 out of 3 to 11 points, while the losers bracket will play 1 game to 15 points.  I needed to do this to make sure we were done for the kickball event.  If you are playing sand volleyball, I tried to have your kickball team play later so you can do both.  Be sure to check out the tournament bracket for your start time.

Kickball ended up with 21 teams.  This is much more than we expected.  Too accomodate the number of teams and to get done in a timely manner, we have established a pool play tournament.  There will be 7 pools of 3 teams each.  The winner of each pool will advance to a single elimination tournament.  There is a 30 minute time limit for games.  I have attached a copy of the rules for your review.  Kickball will be held at Hiers Park.  Teams should report to the softball field to get their field assignment.  We will have 4 fields set up at the park.  Jennifer Hotchkiss from the Parks Department will be the contact person for kickball.

Canoe Races will be on Sunday afternoon.  The schedule of races will be on site, just be sure to make it to Lake Clare with your team by the specified times. Heat Races will determine who makes it into the Main event.  Women's Division should report by 2:00, Coed by 2:45 and Men's by 3:30.  All races will take place at Lake Clare.
